The new commercial version of the EX30 arrives with up to 1,000 liters of cargo capacity, a payload of 390 kg and a starting price of £36,010 in the UK market

Volvo Car UK announced on March 25, 2026, the expansion of its electric vehicle lineup with the launch of the EX30 Cargo, a new van derived from the compact electric EX30 SUV, aimed primarily at business customers and fleet operators in the United Kingdom.

The new model was developed to meet the needs of companies seeking a compact commercial vehicle without giving up comfort, technology, and the safety standards associated with the Swedish brand. The model will be available in two versions: EX30 Cargo and EX30 Cross Country Cargo, the latter featuring increased ground clearance.

To convert the EX30 into a commercial vehicle, Volvo Car UK carried out a second-stage conversion that replaces the rear seats with a flat floor, while adding an access panel to the lower compartment, improving practicality for transport. As a result, the vehicle offers 1,000 liters of cargo space and a payload capacity of up to 390 kg.

The cargo area also features a dedicated partition separating the cabin from the load space, as well as modified rear side panels and doors to increase usable volume. Volvo also added a wider rear door opening to facilitate loading, an additional work light in the cargo area, and new mounting points on the subframe under the floor, enhancing the model’s versatility for various commercial applications.

According to the manufacturer, the conversion can be applied both to new vehicles and to units already in stock, allowing the model to be offered for the 2026 and 2027 model years.

According to Jack Munford, head of fleet at Volvo Car UK, the goal is to bring to the compact commercial segment the same qualities that made the brand recognized in the passenger car market. “Although we are better known for our passenger vehicles, we recognize that business owners and fleet operators also want the quality, safety, and technology Volvo is known for in a compact commercial vehicle, which is why we created the highly practical EX30 Cargo,” he said.

In terms of powertrain, the EX30 Cargo will be offered with P3 (150 hp), P5 (272 hp), and P8 428 hp all-wheel-drive options. For the 2027 model year, Volvo will introduce the P3 Extended Range variant, aimed at customers seeking lower power but still offering a range of up to 300 miles. The model will also be available in standard and Extended Range versions depending on configuration.

The lineup will include Core, Plus, and Cross Country Plus trims. Even in the base version, the EX30 Cargo comes well equipped, featuring the Safe Space Technology package, Google Automotive services, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic LED headlights, and an 11 kW three-phase onboard charger with heat pump. The 18-inch Aero alloy wheels are also standard.

In the Plus version, the model adds comfort and convenience features such as Pilot Assist, Digital Key Plus, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and wireless phone charging. Externally, the finish includes a two-tone roof and 19-inch Aero wheels.

Volvo also highlighted that the EX30 Cargo has undergone comprehensive testing to ensure that all safety systems continue to operate according to the brand’s standards, maintaining the level of protection already known in its vehicle lineup.

The Volvo EX30 Cargo is already on sale in the UK starting at £36,010 OTR, in the standard configuration with the P5 powertrain, and will be sold exclusively through Volvo Car UK fleet sales channels.
